Efficacy and Safety of Suprachoroidal Triamcinolone Acetonide in Cases of Resistant Diabetic Macular Edema

چکیده
Background and Aim: Patients with diabetes are at risk of losing their vision due to diabetic macular edema (DME). Symptoms occur as fluid leaks from retinal vessels into the surrounding neural retina hypoglycemia-induced damage blood-retina barrier. The current study aimed assess safety efficacy suprachoroidal triamcinolone acetonide in resistant cases. Methods: This interventional case series was carried out on 32 cases Department Ophthalmology, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar during period April 2019 September 2019. All patients above 16 years age Type-1 DM or Type-2 were enrolled this study. Intraocular Pressure (IOP), Baseline Best Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA), Central Subfield Thickness (CST) determined recorded. Post-SCTA follow-up done one three months. During follow-up, measured clinical factors noted analyzed SPSS version 26. Results: Of total cases, 15 (46.9%) male 17 (53.1%) females. overall mean 48.64 ± 8.72 years. frequency prior injections received 6.2 maximum 12 minimum four. CST pre-injection value 612.8 198.3 um post-injection months 308.6± 62.6 302.72± 58.64 respectively. Statistical significance found pre post one-month injections. BCVA 0.8 0.19 0.49 0.29 0.39 0.20 At injection, there statistical for both injection CST. A IOP 12.32 mmHg recorded pre-injection. Previously, 14.82 14.48 intraocular pressure respectively after injection. Conclusion: present that Triamcinolone Acetonide (TA) administered anatomical functional improvement. OCT thickness can be improved refractory reduced using SCT. Keywords: Resistant edema, Efficacy, Suprachoroidal

[Efficacy and safety of intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide as treatment for diffuse diabetic macular edema].
One of the first independent clinical trials of Spanish ophthalmology (1) was started in 2005. At that time and to this date, triamcionolone acetonide intra-ocular injections are utilized without a sufficiently demonstrated scientific base, purely on the grounds of isolated clinical cases or small series. For this reason, the Thematic Network 03/13, led by Professor Sánchez Salorio, proposed th...

Background: Cystoid Macular Edema (CME) is one of the most common and sight threatening complications of uveitis. Intravitreal injection of corticosteroids and anti-VEGF antibody are two routine options for treatment. Objective: To compare the effects of intravitreal injections of Bevacizumab and Triamcinolone Acetonide for the treatment of persistent macular edema in non-infectious uveitis. Me...

Diabetic retinopathy is fast emerging as a leading cause of newly diagnosed legal blindness amongst the working population. Macular edema, as it is commoner, accounts for more vision impairment than neovascular proliferation in diabetic patients. Laser photocoagulation, which is the standard treatment of macular edema, is associated with significant complications and an improvement in visual ac...

Purpose: To investigate the efficacy of the posterior subtenon (SBT) capsule injection of TA as compared to intravitreal (IVT) injection of Triamcinolone Acetonide (TA) for the management of cystoid diabetic macular edema in pseudophakic patients. Methods: This prospective randomized comparative study included 100 pseudophakic eyes with cystoid macular edema. They were divided into two equal gr...

PURPOSE To determine the efficacy of intravitreal triamcinolone injections (iv TA) for diffuse persistent diabetic macular oedema (DMO) based on the functional parameter of modification in best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and the anatomic parameter of quantitative changes in central macular thickness, as determined by optical coherence tomography (OCT). The secondary outcome is to analyse th...
